Opening Doors: Collaborating
We have heard a growing chorus of voices in our community speaking out for southwest suburban youth who are experiencing homelessness. Community leaders have long discussed the need for appropriate housing and services for these young people. Thanks to Immanuel’s leadership, the conversation has turned into God-inspired action. This capital fund appeal will provide one-time seed money for a youth housing project. Ongoing operation and management will be handled by the Eden Prairie Housing for Youth steering committee.

“Suburban youth do better when they get to stay in their home community. This partnership is all about making that possible for youth experiencing homelessness in our community.” Nicole Mills, Executive Director, Oasis for Youth
Door #2 aligns with our value of collaborative, responsive engagement.
Who benefits? Hundreds of youth in our community, and their families.
The money will be used to start a community fund for youth housing in Eden Prairie.
Our church community has become very aware of and educated about the hidden issue of youth experiencing homelessness in Eden Prairie and the surrounding suburbs. Many members have already pledged financial support for this initiative. Our Director of Outreach, Kim Rathjen, is currently working in collaboration with a community-wide steering committee, the Eden Prairie Housing for Youth steering committee, and a network of Twin Cities government and social service professionals. This team is outlining a strategic plan for youth housing with wrap-around services. Immanuel is pledging one-time seed money, but will assume no long-term fiscal or administrative responsibility for the youth housing project. This is a community initiative.
