God Squad, Immanuel’s 5th and 6th graders, are bringing in change to raise money to purchase flocks of chickens for impoverished families, and have set big goals: to raise between $1,000 and $3,000! You are invited to participate in by saving your coins and bringing them in for a “noisy offering” during worship on Sunday, April 30th . (“Silent” offering in the form of checks or cash is also welcome.)
As extra incentive, for each $1,000 that is raised a familiar face will dress as a chicken on Sunday, April 30:
A flock of chickens costs $10, and consists of ten little chicks and can make a big difference! Within months of birth chickens are already laying eggs. With an ongoing supply of protein-rich meals and eggs to sell at the market, this gift is a great leap forward for a family struggling with hunger and poverty.
The chicken flocks purchase may go to a variety of countries, as the ELCA is at work in nearly 90 countries around the world.
Please start collecting your change now, and plan to bring it to worship on Sunday, April 23rd.
You can also drop donations off in the church office.
Thank you for supporting and inspiring our young people with your generosity!
