Five for Fifty Campaign

Immanuel’s Five for Fifty capital appeal

March 2016 Update

When Closing a Door is Cause for Celebration

5 for 505 years ago we at Immanuel celebrated 50 years of ministry here in Eden Prairie. We gave thanks for how God has changed lives at and through Immanuel as we have proclaimed and shared the love and grace of God. We also challenged ourselves to keep moving forward in ministry in faithful, bold ways with our 5 for 50 Capital Campaign. The 5 for 50 Campaign was a 5 year Capital Campaign celebrating 50 years of ministry at Immanuel. We set an ambitious goal for this campaign, pay off our mortgage 6 years early by raising $1,800,000, or three times what the previous capital campaign had raised. This would enable us, with the next capital campaign in 2016, to attend to ministry needs here at Immanuel and grow our partnership with, and support of, other ministries in our community.

On Sunday, April 3rd, we will celebrate closing the door on our 5 for 50 Capital Campaign. We are within months of achieving our goal of paying of our mortgage early because of the faithful and generous response of so many people to the 5 for 50 Campaign. Closing the door on our past debt enables us to the open doors to addressing ministry needs at Immanuel and in our community. I look forward to seeing you in worship on April 3rd as we give thanks to God for the blessing of closing a door on our debt that we might open doors to new ways of serving and welcoming God’s people.

One door closes. Three more open.

In 2015 the congregation actively participated in an assessment and visioning process that identified the following congregational priorities and passions, as well as internal and external opportunities:

On Sundays April, 10th, 17th, and 24th, we will introduce you to Opening Doors, our new capital campaign, developed in response to these congregational priorities. Our vision for ministry calls us to reach deeper into our congregation, and further out into our community, to better know and care for one another. Opening Doors will help us live into this vision.

I look forward to being with you in worship as we look behind the three doors to explore how God is calling us into new and exciting ministry.

May 2012 Update

After just two years of the campaign:

Our Church Council is now inviting us to participate in the next chapter of Immanuel’s ministry with our Vision Statement: God is calling us to reach deeper into our congregation and further out into our community to better know and care for one another.

When our debt has been retired we will be positioned for even greater impact, as we:

- Maintain the strength of our current ministries.
- Expand, deepen and strengthen the caring ministries within our congregation.
- Reach further into our community to know and care for our neighbors in Eden Prairie and the Twin Cities.
- Continue to be a welcoming faith community that cares deeply for visitors and members:
- Expand our parking lot to communicate that there is “room for you” at Immanuel Lutheran Church
- Improve our street-side signage that communicates who we are and how we can serve our neighbors
- Sanctuary enhancements including a projection system and new platforms for the altar area
- Support Redeemer Lutheran Church, our sister congregation in North Minneapolis.  We will:

You are invited to faithfully consider how you can join us in celebrating our 50 years of incredible ministry through your generous financial support. Together our gifts will honor those who have gone before us and bless those who are yet to be in our midst. Ways to give…

Introducing Five for Fifity

Positioned for Growing Forward. As we give thanks for our first fifty years, we share a hope for the next fifty years that is brighter than ever. We move forward from a place of blessing and strength. We are positioned with:

Our life-changing ministry at Immanuel is growing forward because of faithful and generous givers who celebrate how we have been blessed to be a blessing. God has blessed Immanuel, and as we grow forward we do so with the belief that God is leading Immanuel to be an even greater blessing in growing God’s kingdom.

The Five for Fifty Vision. Our Five for Fifty capital appeal honors our history by taking the next step in a deeper commitment to mission and build on our congregational story of generosity. And so with grace and gratitude together over the next five years we will raise $2 million over and above our general giving to accomplish the following goals:

  1.  Pay down our existing debt of $1.8 million dollars putting the church in position to respond to present and future facility needs.
  2. Continue to bless our sister congregation, Redeemer Lutheran, Minneapolis, and grow in how we respond to God’s generosity by giving $5,000 in each of the five years to support their ministry.
  3. Preparing for our next years of ministry. Engage in meaningful planning over the next five years so Immanuel is ready to move forward with our next Capital Appeal. This planning will address our future facility needs that can enhance our ministries, and just as importantly, how we can work with the ELCA and Minneapolis Synod in revitalizing congregational ministry in Minneapolis, the place from which we were birthed as a congregation!
