Everyday Discipleship

Everyday Discipleship

The season of Lent is a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal. As we move from winter to spring, from darkness to light, we journey spiritually from death to life, despair to hope. We reflect on our mortality, we repent of our sinfulness, and we are renewed as our journey to Easter brings us new life and forgiveness. As we continue our focus on Everyday Faith, our theme for this lent is Everyday Discipleship, and during each Wednesday night worship we will raise up bible passages that invite and instruct us into more faithful daily discipleship.

Lenten Faith Habit
You are invited to take on the faith habit of Lenten Bible reading and journey with us through Mark’s Gospel: Mark in Lent
Lent in a Box
Lent in a Box - Family Resource
To prepare for Easter, we will be using an awesome spiritual formation tool called Lent in a Box! It is our hope that using the activities included in each box will help you and your family prepare for Easter not just on Sundays but have meaningful faith conversations through the week.  Each box contains 7 hands-on activities, 7 scripture pages, 7 interactive prayer activities and 7 Heroes of the Faith stories. How often you do the activities is up to you—one every few days or once a week—whatever fits into your schedule the best! Everything you need will already be inside the box apart from some basic household items.  Boxes will be available the first Sunday in Lent.

Ash Wednesday

February 26, 12noon & 7 p.m

This special service includes the Imposition of Ashes reminding us of our mortality, and we begin our Everyday Discipleship theme with the call of the disciples. Holden Evening Prayer provides the music and structure for all Wednesday night Lenten worship.

Wednesdays in Lent: March 4 - April 1

Noon Worship
Noon Wednesday worship will include contemplative Taize music and Lectio Divina, a meditative, reflective practice of reading bible passages. Worship will be followed by a simple lunch.

7 p.m. Wednesday Worship
Our evening worship will continue to develop our Everyday Discipleship theme. Jesus journeyed to the cross because of his great love and care for others, for us, and calls us to discipleship - to be humble, to be a servant, to bear good fruit, and to be known for our love.

Personal Care Kits
What to Include (All items should be new and in good condition):

Wrap all the items in the towel and tie securely with ribbons or yarn. See the Personal Care Kit assembly instructions. Bring completed Care Kits to Immanuel by Easter!
